At the Orchid Nest, we are committed to helping clients create more satisfying birth experiences. Our highly-skilled doulas are passionate about their work. Team Orchid truly understands the physiology of birth and how best to support your unique birthing preferences in a variety of birthing environments. You can expect your doula to work in cooperation with your partner/family as well as the professionals you have selected to provide medical care for you and your baby.

I wish I could give them 10 stars!! My first pregnancy ended with a traumatic delivery, I did not have a doula and felt like my medical team wasn’t listening, I had 2 failed epidurals and after a lot of panic and pain, birthed my son. I knew that this time around, I wanted the support of a professional. The Orchid Nest came highly recommended online so my husband and I decided to take part in their Meet Our Doulas event (on zoom). We were delighted at how wonderful they all were but ultimately decided to hire Solange. Best decision ever!!!! Solange has a warm and calming energy, she clicked with our family right away. At the end of my pregnancy, my OB suggested I have a scheduled c-section due to baby’s supposed large size (I did not want a c-section at all!!!). It was a difficult decision for me considering I could be putting my baby or myself at risk…but Solange was sooo helpful and supportive, she provided me with tons of articles and birth facts to aid in my decision whichever way it went, was never pushy, and never put me down for deciding to have a scheduled induction at 39 weeks. She was wonderful and communicative, and when the day came, she was by my side. She turned our sterile little hospital room into a cozy nest filled with twinkle lights, inspirational quotes, and comforting scents. Solange is so knowledgeable in comfort techniques, laboring positions, aromatherapy, and breathing techniques. For a mom prone to heavy panic attacks, she was a godsend, not to mention was very supportive to my husband who wants to help but isn’t always sure how. As it turns out, my baby was as large as expected, I was able to push him out without tearing or complication! I understand that a doula isn’t an affordable service for every family but think of it as a very valuable investment. I could not have done it without our doula’s support. Thank you Solange, and The ON!

A Safer, Easier, More Comfortable Birthing

HypnoBirthing

HypnoBirthing® – The Mongan Method – is a unique method of relaxed and instinctive childbirth. This is achieved through education enhanced by self-hypnosis techniques. Emphasis is placed on pregnancy and childbirth, as well as on pre-birth parenting and the consciousness of the pre-born baby. As a birthing method, HypnoBirthing® is as new as tomorrow and as old as ancient times. It is presented in a series of five, 2 1/2-hour classes.

No matter how you do birth…. Don’t do it without them!

I’m luckily enough to have known about the Orchid Nest before getting pregnant so once I was it was so easy to contact them and scheduling was so easy through Karen! She got me put into the classes my partner and I wished to take as well as got me scheduled for an amazing (and very needed) pre natal massage. Lorie taught our hypnobirthing class and though I knew what I was getting into, she was an incredible informative teacher and so patient with ALL of my husbands questions (and let me tell you… he had a lot). As with all of their classes, you leave with an intentional plan as well as the knowledge of alternatives and ALL options which I found really helpful. I did choose to have a doula present for my birth and to be honest, we don’t plan on doing it again without her! There are a lot of choices to make before, during and after birth and we can’t thank the Orchid Nest enough for their support throughout the journey that changed our lives! ~Marc

PROMOTING A MORE COMFORTABLE BIRTH

Birth Tub

Laboring in water provides you with the privacy and autonomy that promotes more comfortable birthing. Maybe you can remember a time where you didn’t feel well, felt discomfort or maybe just really fatigued…soaking in a warm tub provides the relaxation to relieve our physical and mental discomforts. Our bodies are 60% water, so it just makes sense that water makes us feel better.

The Orchid Nest prepared me and my husband for birth and postpartum! I couldn’t have gone through labor without my Doula -Julie. She remained calm when I was anxious. She guided me when I didn’t see the path. My husband and I part-took in the available hypnobirthing classes, comfort measures, and “I had a baby now what?” classes. They prepared my husband and I immensely to bring new life into our world. I also took advantage of Orchid Nest’s prenatal yoga to help prepare my body for labor. During labor I used a blow up water tub. The water tub was set up in the hospital by my doula. It was so helpful in relaxing me. It helped me relax and focus on my breathing. Even though my labor was strenuous I can honestly say that I experience a great birth due to Orchid Nest’s influence and teaching. All the Orchid Nest doulas are highly trained and are eager to serve families! You will not be dissatisfied with their services!  ~Franqui Mari

Mother Blessing

A Mother Blessing is a beautiful pre-birth tradition which has become more popular in recent years. It is very different from a conventional baby shower, which is traditionally more about the gifts. A Mother Blessing is ALL about nurturing the mother and filling her with love and confidence as she awaits crossing the threshold into motherhood. Even if it’s not her first baby, it’s her first time with this baby.

We would love to customize a beautiful ceremony for you and your closest friends.
